Natomas Charter School Theater in Sacramento
Client: Natomas School District
Delivery: Lease-Leaseback
Project: Build the award-winning 367-seat Benvenuti Performing Arts Center at Natomas Charter School. The stunning architecture enhances the full-fly professional theater with state-of-the-art systems and professional features as well as a dance studio, art gallery and other teaching space.
Services: New construction, Complex project management with multiple specialized sub contractors to coordinate installation of professional theater elements
Challenges: The construction of the 65’ tall building presented considerable physical challenges because it was located in the center of an operating campus, with occupied classrooms and spaces on three sides of the building. In addition, the structural elements were so complex that one of the architects described it as “two buildings crashing into one another.” Orchestrating the installation of full professional theatre systems, equipment and amenities added to the challenge.
Solutions: Intense coordination with the campus and use of “best practices” in operations and safety were required to complete this difficultly sited project without incident. The best in professional construction planning, management and execution was required to deliver this project on-time on-budget, and with the expected high degree of quality.
Success: The campus received accolades from the Sacramento Bee: "a stage whose facilities compare to those of UC Davis's Mondavi Arts Center and the Wells Fargo Pavilion," and "a pristine state-of-the-art venue ... on the top rung of local arts facilities.”
As both a unique and complex project, the Performing Arts Center demanded a particular dedication to quality and service which the Landmark team exhibited from the very beginning. With your undivided cooperation, the project was a soaring success.
